Chief XD

Chief XD is the fixed-flow handline side of the XD nozzle system. The source material is strong on actual published flow bands, so this page is organized around what matters in spec work: tip or nozzle format, inlet style, pressure band, and whether the package needs a pistol grip, rigid inlet, or swivel inlet.

Family Snapshot

What Elkhart actually publishes for Chief XD

Positioning

Fixed-flow fog nozzles built as a long-service workhorse line rather than a selectable-flow package.

User choices

Spinning metal teeth or fixed molded urethane teeth, depending on department preference and wear expectations.

Published pressure bands

The line reaches down to 50 psi configurations, with other published groupings at 75 psi and 100 psi.

Build notes

Forged metal bale handle and laser-marked XD family approach, without sticker-based markings to wear off.

Chief XD Tip Families

The source page separates the tip side of the family into mid-range and high-range rigid-inlet groups.

Family Configuration Published Flow Band Reference Pressures
1.5" rigid inlet 95 to 200 gpm 50 psi, 75 psi, 100 psi
1.5" rigid inlet 185 to 300 gpm 50 psi, 75 psi, 100 psi

Chief XD Nozzle Families

On the nozzle side, the source splits the line by inlet size, inlet style, and operating band.

Family Configuration Published Flow Band Pressure Band
1.0" free swivel inlet / 1.0" waterway 15 to 60 gpm 100 psi
Optional pistol grip.
1.5" nozzle package 60 to 150 gpm 75 psi to 100 psi
Bridges smaller handline applications inside the Chief XD family.
1.5" free swivel inlet / 1-3/8" waterway 95 to 200 gpm 50 psi to 100 psi
Optional pistol grip on the mid-range body.
1.5" free swivel inlet / 1-3/8" waterway 185 to 300 gpm 50 psi to 100 psi
Optional pistol grip on the 1.5" high-range body.
2.5" free swivel inlet / 1-3/8" waterway 185 to 300 gpm 50 psi to 100 psi
2.5" inlet version of the high-range package.

Representative Published Flow Points

  • Mid-range tip group includes 150, 160, and 175 gpm offerings at 50 psi, with additional 125 to 200 gpm options at 75 psi and 95 to 175 gpm options at 100 psi.
  • High-range tip group includes 185, 210, 250, and 265 gpm options at 50 psi, plus 250 and 300 gpm options at 75 psi.
  • Low-range 1" nozzle group is focused on 15, 30, 45, and 60 gpm at 100 psi.
  • Mid-low nozzle group bridges smaller handline applications, with published entries from 60 gpm through 150 gpm.

Ordering Notes

  • Specify flow rate and pressure first. The source page is organized that way for a reason, and the same family name covers multiple calibrated outputs.
  • Decide whether the package is a tip-only configuration or a full nozzle body.
  • Choose inlet style early: rigid inlet, free swivel inlet, or 2.5" version where applicable.
  • If the line will be operated in a way that benefits from body control, include or exclude the optional pistol grip up front.
  • Set tooth style at order time: spinning metal teeth or fixed molded urethane teeth.
